Late 80's or early 90's movie.?

If you're an 80's kid you might remember this movie. I don't remember
much so it's in a lot of broke pieces. Okay, so I know it's
teenagers/kids doing all this stuff, I think their parents are away
and somehow they get ahold of something that summons these monsters
into their house.. creepy little clay looking things taking over the
house, something about the backyard, coming through the backyard
maybe. I also remember this part about the stairs, something creepy
chasing them up the stairs, you can tell it's old like late 80's or
early 90's, I know I'm explaining this horribly but if anyone can
remember let me know. :/
The monsters in this movie weren't friendly, not any of them I
believe.
